Junior Kuppanna is well known for its authentic cuisine from TamilNadu. I visited Junior Kuppanna with a group of foodies on an invite to taste their new menu on the lunch buffet.
First glimpse at the buffet spread was impressive. Variety of dishes like Paneer Manchuria, fried chicken, Chicken lollipops, Mutton Nalli, Baby Corn fry, Fried Mushroom, Kothu Parathas, Lamb head curry, chicken biryan are mouth watering.
We started the lunch with Chiken clear soup. The soup had a strong flavor of ground pepper and loaded with boneless chicken – a good dish that can be relished well by spice lovers. For the vegetarians, Corn soup was served and it was ok.
Paneer Manchuria, Baby Corn Fry & Fried Mushroom were served as part of the vegetarian starters. Paneer had a very mild coating of flour but the pieces were soft and it tasted good.
Baby Corn Fry & Fried Mushroom could have been better if they are less oily. The flour on the mushrooms absorbed lot of oil and it messed up the taste of the dishes.
For the meat lovers, Chicken Lollypop, Vanjaram Fish fry, Chicken Fry & Mutton Nalli kebabs were served. All the dishes had the right spice quotient. Chicken was soft and tender and vanjaram fish was amazing.
Chicken Kothu Paratha was another amazing dish with boneless chicken aptly cooked with chopped malabar porotta. It went well with the raitha and masala gravy.
Combination of Chicken Biryani(pan fried biryani) with Mutton head gravy is awesome. Combination of steamed rice with Mudda Pappu(dal) & Thakkali Rasam is heavenly.
The typical flavor of South Indian masala and loads of curry leaves can be felt in most of the dishes. Junior Kuppanna is a go to place for people who like the typical Chettinadu flavors.
